Case study

Laminating and cross cutting

Costumer business sector : speaker manufacturer

Costumer requirement

A company specialized in speakers fabrication faced two major issues in its production process :

  1. Laminating low tack resin with bad adhesion on fibres
  2. Defective cutting causing excessive material consumption and significant waste

The costumer was looking for a solution allowing :

  • A fully automatized production without supervision
  • High quality laminating and perfect cutting
  • Automatic end-of-winding control to prevent non-conforming parts

CNM’s solution

Our team developed an innovative solution involving :

1. Cantilever laminating system

  • Improved ergonomics for rolls handling
  • Continuous processus ensuring high-quality impregnation without wrinkles or bubbles

2. High-Precision Cutting Module

  • Use of pressure knife on hardened steel counter block
  • Complete elimination of resin crushing
  • Clean fiber cutting without fraying

3. Complete automatization

  • Synchronized dancing roller for step-by-step operation
  • Automatic counter with evacuation into dedicated bin
  • Automatic stop for end-of-rolls
  • Laminating processes in continue

The benefits of our machine

Thanks to the CNM solution, the costumer recorded 80% of reduction in production stops, primarily due to optimized end-of-rolls control and the synchronized dancing roller system. While significant, this improvement represents a substantial enhancement in production processes. Regarding part conformity, the entire line ensures systematic production of conforming parts through integrated controls and absence of variable parameters, eliminating non-conformities related to tool wear or process variations.

This technical modernization increased workshop productivity by more than 50%, while significantly reducing the rejection rate, dropping from 5% to less than 1%. These results demonstrate the effectiveness of the CNM solution in meeting the requirements of the speaker industry, where quality and reliability are essential criteria.
