Fly cutting machine by drag knife

costumer business sector : Fabrication of compounds

Costumer requirements

A producer of adhesive materials contacted CNM Process for a new application requiring continuous cutting of sensitive material from an extruder. The main constraints were:

  • Production flow could not be stopped
  • Material could not be bent or curved without altering the final product
  • Preservation of the very fragile material’s integrity

CNM’s solution

We developed an innovative on-the-fly cutting solution including:

  • An integrated cutting module at the end of the line
  • Synchronization with an encoder for automatic speed adjustment
  • A blade cutting system with carbide cutters
  • An aspiration solution to minimize pressure on the material

Manufacturing process

The material is conveyed to a motorized conveyor synchronized with production speed, followed by an embedded transverse cutting module. After cutting:

  • Parts are transferred to a second belt
  • Automatic stacking on lifting table for large dimensions
  • Manual recovery for smaller formats

Benefits of our machine

Our on-the-fly cutting solution offers optimal production capacity, reaching up to 30 cuts per minute on a 1300mm width, while preserving the integrity of the very sensitive material. The optimization of working cycles has significantly simplified product engagement and end-of-production phases, allowing the operator to focus on essential tasks. The perfect synchronization between the conveyor and production speed, combined with the blade cutting technology with carbide cutters, ensures precise cutting without material deformation. The system for transferring parts to a second belt, followed by automatic stacking on a lifting table or manual recovery depending on the format, ensures a fluid and efficient production process.
